FAQs:
Why use tools instead of hands to remove ticks?
You run the risk of picking up disease when you use your hands. The tools can reduce the risk of disease being secreted into the bite. They do this by allowing you to grasp the mouth in safer area and minimizes or prevent additional secretions.
Why try to prevent tick secretion during biting or during removal?
It is best to remove the tick as quickly as possible because the saliva can contain alpha-gal in addition to other potential pathogens. Using your bare hands runs the risk of contact with the pathogens and can cause the tick to secrete more saliva into the bite area.
